Get your motor running. . .
Hi
wow, what a wonderful week so far. Perfect weather. At least I think so, but most of our readers and writers would disagree. How can one not ride to work, when it’s like this? Even a few of my badass co-workers rode today. I guess if there isn’t a cupholder for the latte on their bikes, they can’t ride to work in the morning.
Oh yeah, my bike is the blue one in the middle. . .
I plan to ride more than them this year. . .
How ’bout you?
Did you know. . .?
The strawberry, a member of the rose family, is unique in that it is the only fruit with seeds on the outside rather than the inside.
I didn’t know. . . learned it from the newsletter for the Dane County Farmers Market (dcfm.org), not that it is true, ‘cuz of that. . .
A good weekend, filled with work and fun and music and bike rides and did I mention work?
I’m thinking of this weekend as practice for vacation. You know, where you take one week off from work to have fun and rest, and have to pay for the next month for it?
Ms. L. goes to Washington
Our friend Mollie is in our nations capitol this weekend. How cool is that (it’s a rhetorical question)? She and her sister and her mom and some cousins are in Washington for the internment in Arlington national cemetery of her aunt and uncle. They ( the aunt and uncle) were in the intelligence wing of the government in WW ll, and, after they passed, they were granted the privilege of resting in the national cemetery. So, the family decided that there should be a marking of the honor, so they flew out.
Honors to her aunt and uncle, and, a salute to her family for caring enough to do this.

Aye, sea turtles. . .
Ahoy, found a link on the international talk like a pirate site, www.talklikeapirate.com –
It’s www.keeptothecode.com. Aye, it’s the ‘official’ site for all pirates of the caribbean fans. Or so they say. Let’s check it out together. . . .
But remember, they’re more like guidlelines. . . .

Weather or not. . .
Hi
well, here we are, the first full week in June, and it’s that time of year where it’s light when we go to bed, and light when we get up. Here in the midwest, right now, it gets dark around 9, and gets light around 4:30. So, we’re just surrounded by light, and I love it. Must be the scandinavian or manic part of me.
However, the weather has not been quite as co-operative so far. Hot one day, rainy and cold the next. One has a hard time getting a pattern going, or any real time to practice bike riding, or something outside for any real length of time. The last two summers have been slow starting too, but ended up being hot and sunny for most of the season. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll have yet another summer such as that. Other wise, it’ll be a long, damp, cloudy, not doing anything outside summer. . .
Here’s a way to spend a Sunday.. . .
Whew, and I thought I had a busy day. . .
Thousands run, swim and bike in Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
Thousands of top athletes from around the world jumped into the frigid waters of the San Francisco Bay early this morning to begin the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. The 1.5-mile swim from Alcatraz Island to the Marina Green began at 7 a.m. – an hour…
A new guitar!!
Since the title of my blog is what my friends call me, I should mention that I did get a new guitar last week. It’s a Larrivee LSV 11. Someone won it from a guitar magazine, and didn’t care for it for some strange reason. They traded it in for a Taylor. I’ve had two Taylors, and my wife has a Taylor, but, my first love is the Larrivee brand. The Larrivee couldn’t be sold for new, since it was technically not, so I got it for a used price. I love it. . .
Life in the hectic midwest
Morning,
The rain as stopped for the moment, and the sun is shining. We have an airshow here in our town, and the Navy Blue Angels are the big draw. Talk about a $35,000,000 commuter vehicle . . .
We are on to various adventures today. There are the traditional midwest yard sales to visit. Shopping, yard work, geeking, music with friends, and who knows what.
And that’s just today. It’s not San Francisco, or New York City, but, the pace is a little easier on the soul.
