Yard sale blues, they come out ok. . .

YoooHooo! The yard sale is over! With stunning results. After taking last year off from the yard sale juggernaut we prepared to jump back in this year as previously posted. Our well laid strategies paid off. The weather’s been soooooo bad this spring that yard sales are off to a slow start. I eyeballed our calendar (work, events, fun) and passed judgement that the 28th had to be the day or we’d wait till June. The weather gods smiled upon us with an absolutely perfect day. The customers were pleasant, all the items (our junk) sold briskly and we were packed up and having lunch by two p.m.
Friend Doug came by to entertain and to attempt to sell his Fender. He didn’t sell the guitar, but the serenading was appreciated.
A success all the way round!

Then in the evening friends Mollie and Bill sped us up to rural Wisconsin where we enjoyed a pleasant meal in a building of Historical Landmark status. The scenery on the way was very Wisconsin spring like. Beautiful rolling hills and so many shade of green! It was a real treat just to sit back and relax with a fun ride and good conversation.

Mollie and Bill had discovered the restaurant on the previous weekend’s outing to have some rest time and an adventure.
We always think of going north for an adventure. I know it’s funny to think of Wisconsin as “exotic” or “different” but it does seem that when you cross the state line the terrain changes and things are just , well, different. Tim did have a little cheese with his dinner just to pay homage to the state.
Then back home after a busy day.

And so after all the yard sale did turn out just fine, like Tim said it would. He’s always right about these things.

Can’t leave well enough alone, or, no good deed goes unpunished

Hi,

forgot to blog for a while. Sorry.

Been busy with work, an open house there. Plus, we are having a yard sale on Saturday.  Plus, I have been trying to install a wireless card in my neighbors computer, so she can ‘borrow’ her wifi off us instead of using dial up (gasp).  However, I bought the card off ebay, and it didn’t come with a cd, so I downloaded the drivers from linksys.   I downloaded the wrong drivers, so, it didn’t work, and when I left there a little while ago, we couldn’t even get her dial up to work.  Arrrrrrr.  Technology is such a love/hate relationship.  When it works, it’s wonderful.  When it does not, it’s hell on earth, or wherever you are.   Gotta head over tomorrow after my haircut to f***k with it more, and either fix it or forget it.   Just can’t leave well enough alone.

Thanks,   I’ll feel better after my cute wife gets home.    See ya. . .

The Ever Popular Friday Update

Hi,

whew, what a week.   “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. Yeah, I know, I use that a lot.   It’s true a lot.     This week, Maggie found out that her battle with the cholesterol monsters inside her was going much better than the cardiologist let on, damn him.   Since January, she has made great progress in lowering her ‘bad’ cholesterol. All the  modification in diet has payed off.   Needless to say, we are both in a much better place ‘cuz of it.   Our friend Shirley came back to the midwest yesterday to see her mom who had surgery, but is not coming around as quickly as hoped.   Unfortunately, her flight was delayed for over 4 hours, so, when arriving @ O’Hare, she had missed the last bus to town.  My friend Jeff and I had a guys road trip in to pick her up.  No one should be forced to sleep on a bench in an airport unless weather is beyond control, so we met her flight @ one this morning, and brought her back.  Got home and to bed around 3:30, and got up an hour later.  Well worth the trip, but I’m wore out. . .  Don’t bounce back as quickly as I used to . ..   Mmmmmmmm   :-(

Cheeseburgers and a spot on the sofa next to my lovely wife tonight.  Oh, she is able to wear Mary’s clothes now. ..  .   Wow, good for her.

Blogging, or living, isn’t for wimps.

Hi,
well, it’s been a long day.  Work was goofy as always before a holiday weekend.   How can adults, with calendars in their cubicle, and more calendars in their computers, get the date wrong on an order?  I am just dumbfounded that one can let that happen, if for no other reason, that it’s embarrassing.  the reply of ” you have time to do it” just doesn’t hold water, or anything else, for that matter.
And then, Maggie had her first visit with the cardiologist since her ‘episode’ in January.  You know, a little encouragement goes a long way with people that have feelings and are human beings. In other words, she did great.  Lost weight, B.P. down, cholesterol not too bad, but no, that isn’t enough, and in some ways shouldn’t be enough. However, the doctor, who had an accident as a child and had his personality removed,  just talked about, in a perfect world, what he would like to do or have done with blood work, levels, stress, and so many other things.  It’s kinda overwhelming to someone who is having difficulty with so much at one time.   Not a lot of difficulty, but it would be nice to hear encouragement once in a while.
We could all use some encouragement once in a while. . .
So, people, lighten up on each other sometimes. . . . and be encouraging. . .
Can’t hurt. . .  much. . .
